DIY Mermaid Cupcake

Make your own magical mermaid tail cupcakes for a birthday or baby shower. You’ll need a Silicone Mold Mermaid Tail as well as Disposable Piping Bags and Edible Glue to make these fantastical treats. There are so many varieties on this simple design and below I will show you some of my favorites.

This is the recipe at is most simple and the effect is stunning.  The silicon mold really makes a convincing mermaid tail and is a necessity for any mermaid inspired creation.

These were my niece’s favorites and are a rare departure from the other designs that are focused on the mermaid tail.  Still, I think these aquatic themed designs would go with any mermaid themed party.

I guess this only really works if your little one is turning five, however I if you play around with the tail and colors you can make this work for other numbers as well.  I just thought the number five was the cutest.

This may seem complicated at first, but if you break down the shape into the individual cupcakes it’s not really a massive task.  A good tip would be to use light cupcakes for the face instead of using an entire cake – just to cut down on the work needed for this.
